Our Story, Our Mission, Our Family
Marissa is a fourth-generation farmer with the privilege of being the caretaker her family farm. After she and I (Andrew) were married in 2017, I quickly adopted her philosophy of caretaker and became involved in the farming operation primarily through the time honored tradition of initiation through driving grain cart during harvest time.
As children started entering the picture, I took over more managerial decisions on the farm while also working off farm jobs. In 2025 with the termination of a grant funded position that I had held, Marissa and I decided to take the plunge and farm full time.
But we wanted to farm in a way that would conserve the landscape, soil and water resources, but also contribute to the health and nutrition of the consumer.
We've always been drawn toward farming with nature instead of fighting against it, so regenerative and organic practices were a natural fit. We were already familiar with practices such as no-till, which Marissa's dad had implemented on the farm since the 1980's, and had been utilizing cover crops since 2015.
Since then, we have striven to cut back on synthetic chemical use, or eliminating it altogether on ground which will be certified organic, using cover crops extensively, and working with neighbors with livestock to reintroduce livestock back on the land.
Through a few health challenges, we began grinding our own fresh milled flour at home and instantly became fans. We decided that growing high quality small grains for other home grinders and cooks to purchase would be a great fit for our farm and vision of stewarding the land.
Today we are growing a variety of small grains, heritage and heirloom varieties as well as some modern non-GMO varieties of oats, wheat, spelt, rye, corn, pulses, and some ancient grains which are all grown chemical free and regeneratively so that you can be assured of the highest quality and nutrition of the grains which you serve to you and your family.
Thanks for supporting small family farms!
We'd love to show you around our farm and share our passion for regenerative agriculture!
